Terms of Service
Effective date: April 2026
Welcome to knownode.ai. These Terms govern your use of our service. If you use knownode.ai, you agree to these Terms. We've tried to write them in plain English. Where we couldn't, we've kept the legalese short.
If anything here doesn't make sense, email us at river@knownode.aiand we'll explain.
1. What knownode.ai is
knownode.ai is an AI-powered learning tool. You tell it a concept you want to understand. It asks you questions — in the Socratic tradition — to probe what you actually know, surface what you don't, and help you build real understanding.
The AI is powered by Anthropic's Claude models. We're currently in private beta and the service is free.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old to use knownode.ai. By creating an account, you confirm you are.
You can create an account with email and password, or with Google OAuth. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe. Don't share them. If you think someone else has accessed your account, email us.
3. Acceptable use
Use knownode.ai to learn. Don't use it to:
- Break the law or help others break it
- Attack, harass, dox, or impersonate anyone
- Scrape the service, reverse-engineer it, or abuse the infrastructure (rate limits, referral credits, API endpoints)
- Upload content you don't have the right to use
- Try to extract training data, jailbreak the AI, or use the service to build a competing product
- Generate anything illegal, harmful, or designed to deceive
We can suspend or terminate accounts that do any of the above. We'll usually try to warn you first, but we don't have to.
4. AI-generated content — read this
The AI can be wrong. It can confidently state things that are incorrect, miss nuance, or generate explanations that sound right but aren't. Don't rely on knownode.ai for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. Verify what matters before you act on it.
The AI's questions and responses are generated in the moment. We don't promise they'll be the same twice, or that they'll be accurate, helpful, or appropriate for your situation.
You use the AI's output at your own risk.
5. Your content and our content
Your content— the things you write during sessions, the concepts you study, your mastery progress — belongs to you. We don't claim ownership of it.
You grant us permission to store and process your content on our infrastructure (Supabase, Vercel) and to send it to Anthropic's API so the AI can respond. This is the minimum we need to make the product work.
We may use aggregated, anonymized session patterns to improve the product. We will not use the specific content of your sessions to train AI models, sell to advertisers, or share with anyone not covered in the Privacy Policy.
Our content— the knownode.ai software, design, assessment methodology, branding — belongs to us. You get a license to use the service; you don't get a license to copy it.
6. Referrals and credits
You can share a referral link to earn additional session credits. Don't abuse this — no fake accounts, no self-referrals, no bots. We can revoke credits earned through abuse and close accounts that do it repeatedly.
Credits have no cash value. They can't be transferred, sold, or refunded.
7. Beta status
knownode.ai is in private beta. That means:
- The service may be unstable, change significantly, or go offline without notice
- Features may appear, disappear, or work differently week to week
- We may reset data, pause accounts, or change how credits work as we iterate
- We don't promise any SLA, uptime, or continuity
When we exit beta and introduce paid plans, we'll give you reasonable notice and the chance to decide whether to continue.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time — email us at river@knownode.aior use the account settings when that option ships. When you delete, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except what we're legally required to keep.
We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. If we do it in bad faith or by mistake, email us and we'll make it right.
9. Disclaimers
We provide knownode.ai “as is” and “as available.”We don't promise it will be error-free, secure, uninterrupted, or meet your goals.
To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties — merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and anything else the law lets us disclaim.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, knownode.ai and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is capped at the greater of (a) what you've paid us in the last 12 months or (b) $50.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. If you're in one, these limits apply only to the extent permitted.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we'll email you or post a notice in the app before they take effect. Continued use after the change means you accept the new Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, unless local consumer protection law in your jurisdiction requires otherwise.
